Chiropractic Adjustments

The back is a complicated structure of bones, joints, ligaments, and muscles. You can sprain ligaments, strain muscles, rupture disks, and irritate joints, all of which can lead to back pain. While sports injuries or accidents can cause back pain, sometimes the simplest of movements—for example, picking up a pencil from the floor— can have painful results.

A chiropractic adjustment is a common method for chiropractors to treat back pain and neck pain and involves the chiropractor applying thrusts of varying speed and forces to spinal joints that are causing dysfunction and related pain.

Treatment is therapeutic so multiple visits per week for the first four weeks is expected. A re-examination will be performed every thirty days to show progress and determine your further care plan needs.

What conditions do Chiropractors treat?

Chiropractors are well known for their expertise in caring for patients with back pain, neck pain and headaches. They also care for patients with sciatica, arm pain, sprain/strains, disc bulges, disc herniations, facet syndrome, shoulder problems, hip and knee problems, foot problems, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel and many other conditions.

What does a Chiropractic treatment do?

A Chiropractic treatment will restore joint motion, decrease inflammation, and increase ligament and muscle strength. A chiropractor will do this through gentle spinal manipulations, Modalities (laser therapy, interferential current, ultrasound) and skilled therapeutic exercise programs.

How will a Chiropractor determine what care is needed?

Chiropractors will look at a patient’s history, exam findings, and diagnostic tests (x-ray or MRI) to determine an appropriate diagnosis and care plan for each specific condition.

What benefits can I expect from Chiropractic care?

The benefits of chiropractic care include reduction of pain, increase in blood supply to the tissues, increased muscle and ligament strength, increased range of motion, and a return to normal daily activities with normal function.
